how it all began

OpenDoor Church began in 1995 as a food outreach to the poor. From the back of their pickup truck, our founding pastors, Troy and Leanna Brewer, delivering food and the love of Jesus to isolated elderly and hurting people demonstrated the heart of Jesus in feeding the hungry. They saw many surrender their hearts to the Lord from a simple act of love.

They quickly realized the need to provide a place to disciple the people they were reaching – thus the church was born in 1995.

Today, OpenDoor Foodbank gives away millions of pounds of food every year to the hurting in our area.

Since 1995 OpenDoor worked hard to demonstrate Jesus through preaching the gospel and building a community of like-hearted people here locally and throughout the world.

In June 2013, founding pastor of a local church, Pastor Gloria Gillaspie, retired and entrusted her church to us. In one amazing God moment, OpenDoor inherited a whole new congregation along with a wonderful facility that can seat 1000 people.

We are thankful for the legacy of Lighthouse Church and the groundwork that was laid for the work the Lord is doing today.

our mission

“Experience Real Life”

EXPERIENCE: Create an atmosphere that is safe, casual and loving with the goal of preparing a place for all who enter to experience Jesus in a personal way.

REAL: Jesus loves you, the real you. We desire to be real before Him and allow Him to transform us into His image.

LIFE: As freedom fanatics, we celebrate all things life. There is life in Jesus so there is life in us; we pray we demonstrate that in all we do.

what we believe

since the founding of the christian faith and establishment of the church in the first century, followers of jesus have held to certain core beliefs.

our purpose

OpenDoor exists to help broken people experience God’s love and share it with others, discover God’s purpose for their life, and become part of a community that makes a difference.

In essential beliefs — we have unity.

There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. Eph. 4:4-6

The Bible is the written Word of God

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. ” 2 Tim 3:16-17

Jesus is the Son of God

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

You must be born again

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Followers of Jesus are able to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

“And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit,” Acts 13:52

In non-essential beliefs — we have liberty

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? So then each of us will give an account of himself to God… So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1,4,12,22

In all our beliefs — we show love

If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2

common questions

what are the weekend services like?

OpenDoor is a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere with contemporary worship music and a practical, relevant message.

What to expect when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for awhile—and that’s fine with us! Come in, experience a service, and see if this is your tribe. Be sure to stop by the Connection Center in the foyer to learn about some of the ministry opportunities available.

What do I wear to attend services?

You’ll find everything from casual clothes to suits at our services, whatever you wear…you are welcome!

What about my children?

At OpenDoor your children are a top priority. Our nurseries are clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers. We offer age-appropriate children’s services. Junior high and High School worship in the main service on Sundays; Wednesdays they have their very own fun and life-changing service.

How can I meet others and get connected?

There are many ways to get connected at OpenDoor. You can start by joining Pastor Troy and some of our team members (immediately following every Sunday service) for our meet and greet and receive a free autographed book. We can answer questions and see each other face to face. You may also attend our 101 class to learn who we are and see if this is your home church. You can also join one of our ministry groups or small groups. Visit the Connection Center in the main foyer for more information.  Also, be sure to keep up with what’s going on in the events calendar online. In each of these, you can build friendships, experience real life, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith.
